Topic: As You Obey God’s Voice This Year 2
Genesis 22:2-4 (NLT)
“Take your son, your only sonyes, Isaac, ..and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.” The next morning Abraham got up early. He saddled his donkey and took two of his servants with him, along with his son, Isaac. .. and set out for the place God had told him about. On the third day of their journey, Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.
In Genesis 12:1-4, the Bible shows us how God called Abraham to arise and go to a land that He (God) ‘was going to show him.’ By faith, Abraham obeyed and heeded the voice of God, not knowing exactly where God was leading him. In our text above, we see that God led Abraham through another similar experience. Once again, He was asked to follow God to a place he did not yet know and offer his only son, Isaac, as a sacrifice unto God. I am sure you will agree with me that somehow, none of these instructions really made sense in the natural. Yet, still, Abraham trusted, followed and obeyed God. He had resolved in his heart that God had a good plan for him. He knew that whenever he arrived at the right location, it would be confirmed by God. Abraham was also confident that even if he were to offer up his son Isaac unto God, God could raise his son up from the dead, Heb.11:17-19.
Child of God, without faith, it is impossible for us to please God, Heb.11:6. Walking with God by faith requires that we trust Him, follow Him and obey Him; even when we may not fully know where God is taking us and we may not know what the exact outcome of our obedience is going to be. No matter what sacrifices we have to make, as we believe God and move along with Him by faith, He will guide and lead us. He will bless us and fulfill all His promises in our lives. We will receive divine witnesses and confirmations in our spirit and we will experience divine manifestations of God’s power and glory in our lives. As you continue to obey God, walk by faith and act on His Word this year, He will show Himself strong in your life.
I trust in you, Lord, and I know You will fulfill Your will and promises for my life. I receive grace to walk with You by faith.
